Maureen Hanratty
Education:
MSI, School of Information, University of Michigan
BFA, Painting, Rhode Island School of Design

I come to the field of Human-Computer Interaction from a background in the visual arts. My practice is focused on creative, human-centered approaches encompassing both user research and design. I am particularly interested in projects which contribute to people's health and well being. Living in San Francisco I became an avid consumer of local produce, buying fruits and vegetables at the city's many farmers markets and subscribing to a CSA.

Geoff Ho
Education:
MSI Information Policy & Human Computer Interaction
BBA Management Organizations & Business Information Technology, Ross School of Business

I am a second year MSI student concentrating in Information Policy and Human-Computer-Interaction. Prior to my current program, I received a BBA in Management Organizations and Business Information Technology. A recent internship in the US Securities and Exchange Commission allowed me to gain a first hand experience with information policy work at the Federal Government level. I am interested in exploring the role that information policy and technology play in shaping the everyday policy decisions that affect both local and federal government, and public and private sectors.

Xiao Wei
Education: MSI, HCI, ICD, 2008~;
MS of Biophysics, 2008 Purdue University;
ME of Electrical Engineering 2005 University of Science & Technology of China.

As a science and engineering scholar and professional, I see the world as composed of various mechanisms, ranging from economics, politics, transportation, and technology, to society and culture. Information flows through the connections and interactions among people, stimulating the dynamics of our world. My passion and belief that Information technology facilitates these dynamics has guided me towards the field of HCI and the CHI competition. I enjoy building systems that implement innovative ideas and build upon my own experience and that of others.

Jiang Yang
Education:
Phd. School of Information, University of Michigan
MS. Economics, University of Science & Technology of China
BS. Information Management & System, University of Science & Technology of China

I am interested in how information technologies affect people's lives and their social interactions with people and objects. I believe human, environmentally-friendly, and pervasive will be the keywords of our info-social systems in the near future. My diverse educational background equips me with multiple perspectives that help me understand this comprehensive process. The CHI competition theme of this year - sustainable use of local resources - creates a great opportunity for studying this upcoming trend. I will join my teammates as a data analyzer, thinker, and designer.
